Overview

Deployed by the Fondation des Gardiens virtuels (FGV), the Digital Outreach Worker (DOW) program (Travailleur de rue Numérique (TRN) en français) aims to provide a human, professional, and safe presence in digital spaces frequented by various communities. Qualified outreach workers offer online listening and support, while also directing individuals to appropriate resources. The program relies on structured, ethical practices adapted to the realities of the digital world. Every evening, our outreach workers are present to break isolation and prevent online distress.

  • Offered free of charge
  • For young people aged 14 to 25, but we do not refuse anyone in need.

A unique preventive intervention model worldwide

  • Digital Outreach Workers (DOW) trained in psychosocial intervention, active every evening from 7 PM to 10 PM on Twitch, Discord, and other platforms.

  • More than 2,007 virtual interventions in 2024, addressing mental health, loneliness, isolation, or dark thoughts.

  • Direct integration into streamer communities: DOWs decode subtle signals (emoticons, subtle withdrawals, coded language).

  • Gentle, anonymous, non-intrusive approach, fostering trust and referral to professional resources.
